5 Step Critique
1. Observe
2. Describe
This photo looks somewhat washed out, but the colors are still vibrant. It is a picture of a very green plant inside of a white cup that is sitting on a black surface with a white background. The picture is edited so that it has white grid lines in front of it.
3. Analyze
This photo uses the element of art line by including the grid lines and I think that this helps the viewer focus on different parts of the photo because it is divided into different parts. This photo also uses the principle of design emphasis to have the viewer focus on the plant in the cup instead of the background. I did this by making the green leafs more vibrant and it also helps that the cup was on a black surface, so it really brings the cup to the front and bringing it more into focus.
4. Interpret
I think this photo is supposed to represent the beauty of nature because it is a plant that is the main focus an it shows how it contrast against the black and white of the background (the world). It kind of initiates a feeling of calmness mostly because bright green does make a person calm as does nature.
5. Judge
I personally enjoy this piece, I like how there is a grid so it isn't as simple. I think the grid adds something interesting to look at vs. just having a plant. I would put this in my house, I think the colors look very nice together and everything contrasts very well.
