5 Step Critique
1. Observe
2. Describe
In these two pieces there is a lot of photo shop involved that makes the piece kind of trippy and odd. There is one picture that has a girl in a flannel with a bear head in front of a snowy forest background. In front of here there is a triangle filled with snowy tree branches. The photo is edited with a 3D affect so it is kind of like seeing double with blue and red. In the other photo of the girl with the lion head, she is in front of a safari background and it is edited the same with the 3D affect that makes it seem double. And inside of the triangle, there is the rest of the sky that is covered from behind her.
3. Analyze
These two images use the element of art shape by incorporating the two triangles in front of their bodies. This was mostly used because it counteracts the 3D effect and when you put on 3D glasses everything comes forward except the triangle and its contents. The principle of design that was used was variety because of the many different parts that go into it. Such as the back ground vs the person who was not originally placed there. The variety in these photos make it a very interesting work of art.
4. Interpret
I think these photos are meant to make you inquire as well as feel amazed. Because it is so out of the ordinary, I feel, it requires more questions to be asked about it such as, "How did you do that?", "Will it actually work in 3D?", or "What inspired you to do something like this?". For me it definitely brings the feeling of amazement to the table because I wasn't aware that I would ever be capable of creating something like this.
5. Judge
I really love this piece, it makes me feel proud. I would definitely put these in my house, maybe as a conversation piece or just as something interesting to look at. I love that it actually works as a 3D image and how well it was photo-shopped. I think these pictures really show my progress as an artist since the beginning of the semester.
